Domaine Paul Blanck & FilsALSACE
Together with a handful of vintners, Paul Blanck was acknowledged for his merit in setting up the grand cru Schlossberg as a pilot vineyard in 1927. Then in 1975, Marcel Blanck played an important role in the creation of a Grand Cru appellation in Alsace. As a result, Schlossberg was the first officially recognized locality.
Paul Blanck’s grandsons, the two cousins Frederic and Philippe Blanck, are in charge of the estate. They aim to create unique, enjoyable, gourmet wines for connoisseurs worldwide. « I am the impresario of an artist… », says Philippe Blanck, the artist being Frédéric, the winemaker.
A spirit of innovation:
The estate chose screw cap for 60 % of the wines: “screw cap is the safest closing system to guarantee our wine’s quality”, claims Frédéric Blanck ; his first red wine is aged in wood in 1988, he carries 30 years later on with a better control.
Philippe Blanck offers Qi Gong sessions alongside wine tastings, he is a Qi Gong’s teacher, the diploma is recognized by the French Sports Minister

DOMAINE PAUL BLANCK
At Domaine Paul Blanck, situated in Kientzheim (Haut-Rhin), the family has been winegrowing from one generation to the other ever since the Renaissance. The key words here are finesse and balance, while respecting the vineyard and its location. According to their terroir, the wines express the fullness derived from limestone, the mellowness and softness provided by clay, the harmony offered by magnesia, and the bouquet, finesse and strength brought about by silica. The estate exports 80 % of its production. Its wines can be found on Air France in first class (Grand Cru Schlossberg 2007) and are served at many prestigious restaurants: in Paris (Alain Ducasse, Ledoyen, Le Grand Vefour, Laurent, Tour d’Argent, Le Ritz and Lasserre), in the United States (Jean Georges, Daniel and Le Bernardin), in China (Four Seasons and Grand Hyatt) and last but not least, in Alsace at L’Auberge de l’Ill and L’Arnsbourg.
