Vignobles Joseph Janoueix

Towards the end of the last century, Jean Janoueix, who came from Corrèze, a rugged land that shapes solid, hardworking and resilient men, decided to set up in the Bordeaux wine trade. Joseph, one of his four heirs, used his inheritance to realise his dream of becoming a vineyard owner by buying Château Haut-Sarpe in the Grand Cru Classé region of Saint-Emilion. He married Marie-Antoinette and they produced three children; Jean-François, Marie-Josèphe and Marie-Françoise. Jean-François followed in his father’s footsteps and renovated his last acquisition, Château Le Castelot in Saint-Emilion.

Jean-François married Françoise and they also produced three children: Jean-Pierre, Jean-Philippe and Caroline. Faithful to the Janoueix family tradition, the two sons have also gone into the business and are working on the very important export side as well as acquiring more chateaux. Henry, Marie-Josephe’s son, is now assistant to the vineyard manager and runs his own two châteaux in the Côtes de Castillon and Saint-Georges Saint-Emilion.
