Calvados Roger Groult

A unique “savoir-faire” from father to son for 5 generations.
The story of a family business that began in the 18th century when Groult family settled in the “Clos de la Hurvanière”, a beautiful farm located in the hills of Pays d'Auge. Decades later, Pierre Groult (1830-1918) decided to distill his cider and to age the resulting spirit in oak barrels : Calvados Groult was born.

The first gold medal is obtained in 1893 . Today, the distillery is managed by Jean-Roger Groult.
Cider apples (25 varieties, sweet, bitter-sweet, bitter and sour) are harvested on the 23 hectares of orchard of the domain and selected and sorted manually before pressing. The cider then rests naturally and slowly (between 10 months and one year) before being distilled. Double distillation is then made within three small repeat-pass stills  just heated over a wood fire to obtain a higher concentration of alcohol aromas and flavors. The long aging in oak barrels and meticulous blends (many of whom were awarded) finally offer to the nectar its beautiful color and its qualities of taste.

This handcrafted and authentic production has given the Calvados Groult an international notoriety.
